How to Cure Bacterial Vaginosis at Home
Finding a yeast infection remedy at home is actually not hard at all. It takes a bit of patience and some rather simple lifestyle changes on your part, but nothing too mind boggling. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be talking about some of the most basic things you can do to get rid of bacterial vaginosis.
So starting with today, let’s talk about what causes it and then think about how we can get rid of it. Bacterial vaginosis basically a more fancy term that means there is a bacterial infection of the vagina. The vagina is the perfect environment for bacteria because it’s moist and warm. It’s no wonder that the vagina would seem to basically offer an open invitation for repeated infection if it weren’t for the body having natural defenses built right into it. Good bacteria is a natural defense, along with having a normal pH level.
Now may be a good time to talk about where the bad bacteria can come from. One of the most obvious may be that the vagina is next door neighbor to the anus, which is where fecal matter is disposed from. In case you weren’t aware, stool is comprised of 75% E coli and other bacteria. If you aren’t careful enough cleaning yourself after a bowel movement, it’s fairly easy to get even the smallest amount of stool near the opening of the vagina.
If you’re body is in a healthy balance though, it’s not likely to be a big issue. The natural defenses talked about above do wonders as far as killing bacteria and keeping things in check. If any of these natural defenses aren’t functioning just right, meaning the good bacteria count is low or the pH level is too low or too high, the bad bacteria will creep their way in and take over.
This is all usually found out the hard way, by noticing yeast infection symptoms. If you had a bacterial vaginosis infection and decided to see a doctor, they probably gave you a cream to insert into your vagina or prescribed antibiotics. Those antibiotics do kill bacteria, but the problem is that they kill both the good and bad bacteria which can cause yeast infection problems again in the future.
Now that we are aware of how it happens, it’s time keep these infections from happening again. Basically, the first thing you can do is to practice improved toilet hygeine habits. When using toilet paper, wipe carefully from the front to the back – NOT from back to front. This helps to minimize the chance of any stool getting near the vaginal opening.
When using feminine pads, be sure to swap them out for a new one each time you go to the bathroom. Changing underwear daily can also help, then making sure to wash them with bleach in hot water. Also, shower or bathe regularly using a gentle soap and rinse really well.
By using this kind of reverse psychology, we can help ourselves to prevent further infections from happening in the future. Following these simple suggestions is sure to help stop any future recurrence of bacterial vaginosis or yeast infections.
In my next post, I’ll be talking about some remedies that can be done at home to get rid of bacterial vaginosis without having to make an appointment with your doctor.
